Berger, Williams & Reynolds, LLP leads class action after successful opinion from the California Supreme Court regarding the law on use of independent contractors

February 24, 2019Legal UpdatesDebra Kamys

Tim Williams has taken over as lead counsel for the firm in Lee v. Dynamex. The case, which has been heavily litigated since 2005 and is a certified class action, has included two trips to the court of appeal and more recently, the California Supreme Court: Dynamex Operations West, Inc. v. Superior Court (2018) 4 Cal.5th 903. The firm represents a class of delivery drivers who were mis-classified as independent contractors, and has changed the law in California for all workers. It has far-reaching implications for a wide range of employment laws, including the extent to which workers must be paid wages and business expenses.
