    Federal and California have a long list of laws that require employers to provide employee with certain leaves of absence, and job protections. These include pregnancy, sick leave, military status, family and medical leaves, and many others.

    Employers must provide employees with notices regarding protected leave status, and employees must be afforded all rights available to them. The consequences of making mistakes can lead to significant expense for both employers and employees. Legal counsel regarding leaves and reemployment is almost always a necessity to ensure that both sides are aware of and complying with the limits of their respective duties and obligations.
